I applaud the President’s decision to end this unconstitutional practice. When Democrat leaders asked the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) to estimate the effects of ending payments for CSRs, they were probably surprised to learn that CBO and JCT reported that 'many people with income between 200 and 400 percent of FPL would…be able to pay lower net premiums for insurance that pays for the same share (or even greater share) of covered benefits.' For those with incomes above 400 percent of FPL, people would 'pay about the same premiums for bronze or silver plans…as under the baseline and lower premiums for gold plans.' In fact, CBO even told them such a decision would be 'reducing the number of uninsured people, on net, in most years.'
