I enjoyed the Nostalgia' app Chengrui and Shruti created that allows users to recall pleasant memories with the touch of a finger, Hartzler said. In today's social media saturated world, users can often be left feeling lonely and isolated. Chengrui and Shruti's creative app takes a step towards fixing that problem. Chengrui and Shruti were awarded first place for their Nostalgia app, which allows users to capture positive moments in their life through photos and messages and to recall them when they feel down. The Rock Bridge High School students designed the app to help people enjoy personal memories. An explanation of their app can be viewed here. The Congressional App Challenge was established by Congress in 2015 to encourage wider participation in the STEM fields of coding and computer science. We need more students with an interest in computer science and coding, and the Congressional App Challenge is a great way to encourage students across the country to get involved, Hartzler stated. Two-hundred twenty-two Members of Congress had districts competing this year, with over 9,000 students competing in the Congressional App Challenge over the past three years. Chengrui and Shruti's app will be eligible for display in the U.S. Capitol Building and on the U.S. House of Representatives website.
