The bill also doubles the cap for 2019 for couples filing jointly. As leaders, one of our most important duties is to design a fair and equitable tax system. The tax code should never be used as a means to score political points. Implemented as part of the GOP tax bill in 2018, the $10,000 SALT cap has directly hurt people in Connecticut. The cap unfairly targeted heavily-populated states. Eliminating the cap will provide much-needed relief to hardworking taxpayers in my state and my district and it is the right thing to do. This vote is a victory for the people of Connecticut. I urge the Senate to take up this critical legislation as soon as possible. ### Rep.
