Over the last year, there have been reports of increased processing time of 10-13 weeks for passports. The State Department is currently receiving approximately 400,000 passport applications each week. Local events like this provide assistance with renewing or applying for a passport. In total 150 passport applications were processed, allowing attendees the ability to plan for upcoming international travel. The event follows the Passport Day held in the Waterbury office of Congresswoman Hayes in April, where over 100 applications were processed. “Passport Day was incredibly successful. Over 150 passport applications were processed in 4 hours, with 90 of those applications being first-time applicants,” said Congresswoman Hayes. “I want to thank my wonderful staff and the Department of State for swiftly assisting constituents.
