The laddered continuing resolution will fund Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Energy and Water Development, Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Food and Drug Administration until January 19th, 2024. The Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies, Defense, Financial Services and General Government, Homeland Security, Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Legislative Branch, State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs will be funded until February 2nd, 2024. Additionally, this proposal will extend the Farm Bill through September 30th, 2024, at current spending levels. 209 Democrats and 127 Republicans voted in support of this funding bill. Once again House Democrats came together to ensure our government does not shut down. However, despite pushing the deadlines into early next year, the threat of a shutdown continues to loom and the confidence and stability of our nation remains at stake. The Republican majority cannot continue to legislate in this way with the threat of a shutdown or funding cliff every few months.
