Both provisions were included as a result of amendments successfully led by Jaime Herrera Beutler. The responsible legislation does not raise the gas tax, streamlines inefficiencies, prioritizes safety, and provides certainty for cities and states to plan much needed transportation projects. The U.S. Senate is expected to approve the package in the coming days, and the President has announced that he will sign it into law. This five year package will make meaningful improvements to the transportation system that serves our regions residents and businesses, as well as the thousands who visit the Columbia River Gorge each year. said Jaime.
