Today, the United States House of Representatives voted to disapprove of two Environmental Protection Agency rules, the New Source Performance Standards rule and the Clean Power Plan rule. These new rules would impose additional mandates on the Nation's energy producers. Congressman Hice released the following statement in regards to the passage of the measures: I am pleased that the House voted to disapprove of the new EPA rules that would effectively impose cap and trade mandates on our Nation's energy producers. The EPA has made a habit of abusing its statutory authority through rulemaking which discourages innovation while increasing rates for consumers. Though the names of the EPA rules are seemingly innocuous, the effects of these rules are detrimental. There are twenty-seven States that have filed litigation in order to prevent the EPA from implementing these damaging rules. I am proud that my home state of Georgia is one of them.
