Each month, he recognizes one outstanding local citizen who goes above and beyond to help their neighbors and strengthen our community. Councilman Silverstein is an Air Force veteran who has made service his lifestyle. Each Friday, he travels to the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, where he gladly serves as a Red Coat Ambassador. The Red Coat Ambassador Program is part of the new culture of customer service at VA Medical Centers across the country. These special volunteers greet veterans, their families, and caregivers with a smile and help them find their way around VA facilities. Prior to joining this program, Mr. Silverstein volunteered as a certified nursing assistant, logging 4,000 hours over three years and working Monday through Friday without missing a day. Earlier this year, he received the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifelong commitment to building a stronger Nation through volunteer service. I wholeheartedly agree with President Trump who expressed in his letter to Mr. Silverstein that One of our Nation's greatest strengths remains the compassion of our everyday citizens,' said Congressman Hice.
