Sean Patrick Maloney, prohibiting the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from proceeding through the process of repealing Net Neutrality rules. “Consumers not corporations should be in control of individual internet access,” said Congressman Higgins. “Fair and equal access to an open internet is a consumer right that deserves protection and one that maintains a level playing field for all, including those accessing the web for business and educational purposes.” Existing Net Neutrality rules prohibit internet providers from blocking, prioritizing and charging extra for content or throttling back on the speed at which content is provided. The FCC is scheduled to vote on a roll back of Net Neutrality policies at its meeting on December 14, 2017. Higgins supported the FCC’s actions in 2015 to protect Net Neutrality.
