The trade deal is expected to create more than 175,000 jobs and includes robust monitoring, fast and effective labor enforcement, and provisions to lower prescription drug prices. Today's bipartisan agreement is a good deal for Oklahoma's workers, businesses, and families, said Congresswoman Horn. Stronger trading relationships with our neighbors mean a stronger economy for our state. That is why I have fought to finalize a free and fair trade agreement every step of the way. In Oklahoma's 5th District, I've heard from workers, families, and businesses about the positive impact this agreement would have for the future of our economy. Until we cross the finish line and this deal is signed into law, I will continue fighting to bring lawmakers from both parties together in support of finalizing the USMCA. In 2018 alone, Oklahoma exported a total of $5.6 billion in manufactured goods globally. Nearly half of those exported goods went to Mexico and Canada. In the same year, Oklahoma agriculture exports to Mexico and Canada totaled $154 million. In July, Congresswoman Horn joined 14 fellow Democrats urging Speaker Nancy Pelosi to bring the USMCA deal to a vote by the year's end. In November, Congresswoman Horn spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives in favor finalizing the USMCA. Video of the floor speech can be found here.
