On Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed a year-end government funding bill, including tax provisions and key investments that Congresswoman Kendra Horn (OK-5) fought to include. The bill makes record investments in Head Start and early education, extends a biodiesel tax credit important to Oklahoma companies like Love's Travel Stops, continues funding for community mental health services, invests in underserved schools in Oklahoma, and extends short-line railroad tax credits that benefit Oklahoma's economy. Earlier in the month, Congresswoman Horn led a bipartisan letter urging congressional leadership to include these provisions and other locally important tax measures in a year-end funding bill. Oklahoma organizations and businesses shared their reactions to the local victories in the year's government funding package: The biodiesel tax credit is a critically important policy tool that enables our company to buy, blend, and sell environmentally friendly fuels," said Carl Martincich, Vice President of HR and Government Affairs for Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores based in Oklahoma City. "The Love's Family of Companies is grateful to Congresswoman Horn for her leadership in helping get this important policy through the House of Representatives. If enacted, this successful policy will allow Love's to continue to lower fuel prices and decrease the transportation sector's emissions footprint.
