On Thursday, Congresswoman Kendra Horn (OK-5) voted for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which passed in the House of Representatives in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 385-41. Oklahoma's largest trading partners, Canada and Mexico, buy $2.4 billion in Oklahoma exports each year. The new trade deal is expected to create 175,000 jobs nationally. Today's bipartisan vote to pass the USMCA is a monumental step towards ensuring free and fair trade with our two largest trading partners, said Congresswoman Kendra Horn. A stronger trading relationship with Mexico and Canada means a stronger economy for Oklahoma. This agreement ensures a level playing field for Oklahoma businesses and workers, includes critical enforcement provisions, gives Congress tools to combat the high costs of prescriptions drugs, and improves labor standards. I came to Congress to find bipartisan solutions that improve the daily lives of Americans, and that's what the USMCA does. Finding common ground is not easy, and I am thankful for the hard work of the Administration and the Democratic Working Group for finding a bipartisan path forward on this critical legislation. Congresswoman Horn has brought lawmakers on both sides of the aisle together to urge congressional leadership and the Administration to finalize an agreement before the year's end.
