https://houlahan.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=3635 Houlahan: Continuing resolution is proof we need a bipartisan budget agreement 2023-11-14 2023 2023-11 Democrat House PA Chrissy Houlahan H001085 houlahan.house.gov houlahan https://houlahan.house.gov/press/documentquery.aspx page_html WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) voted in support of H.R. 6363, the Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act of 2024. This bill, known as a continuing resolution, would avert a government shutdown and now goes to the Senate for passage. It must be signed into law before midnight on November 17 to ensure there is no lapse in government funding. The bill passed 336 to 95. Together, 203 Democrats and 127 Republicans voted to keep the government open, while 93 Republicans and 2 Democrats voted against the measure. “We saw tonight that the consensus-building core of Congress is still alive and strong,” said Houlahan. “When given the chance to vote on a ‘clean‘ continuing resolution, the preponderance of Democrats and the majority of Republicans voted to keep our government open and put the needs of the American people ahead of partisan politics. Additionally, for the third time in as many months, the Democrats have demonstrated their capability in governing and their willingness to work across the aisle, each time by delivering more votes than the Republican majority.” “This continuing resolution is a blueprint for bipartisan cooperation moving forward. We must stop playing games and wasting time with hyper-partisan, poison-pill laden appropriations bills, and instead pass bipartisan bills across the board - not just when we are threatened with a government shutdown. I urge all of my colleagues to join me in calling upon House leadership to do just that so we can get back to the work we were elected to do.” H.R. 6363 is a clean, laddered continuing resolution that extends each spending bill to one of two dates, detailed below: FY23 spending levels extended until January 19: Agriculture Energy and Water Military Construction and Veterans Affairs (MilConVA) Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (T-HUD) FY23 spending levels extended until February 2: Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Defense Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) Homeland Security Interior Labor, Health, and Human Services (LHHS) Legislative Branch State and Foreign Operations (SFOps) Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. She is the recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award which “recognizes members who demonstrate the bipartisan leadership and constructive governing necessary to move our country forward” and the Congressional Management Foundation’s 2022 Democracy Award for best Constituent Services in Congress. 1 2026-04-08T14:14:11Z 2026-04-08T14:23:06Z
