I did this because these kind of votes have become an almost daily political cudgel. Every week, sometimes twice or more a week, we spend our limited time voting and re-voting with slightly different language. Votes to: decry antisemitism; defend Israel’s right to exist; to condemn Islamophobia; and to insist on the importance of protecting innocent Palestinian and Israeli lives. These are all critical issues and worthy of these votes, but not over and over again. My record is clear on this. I am done with these performative votes.
