Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed a resolution authorizing a new, fully-consolidated FBI headquarters: “Today’s Committee passage of a resolution to authorize the FBI project is an important step in providing a new, fully consolidated headquarters to the hardworking employees of the FBI. The resolution authorizes the project so it can move forward once the funding is appropriated. “I’m pleased the resolution requires that the General Services Administration, which is charged with awarding the project, consider the National Capital Planning Commission’s parking recommendations and proximity to Metro. In addition, the resolution requires GSA to consider the significant cost of relocation and site preparation of the Springfield site, which ought to be a serious concern for taxpayers. I advocated strongly for these provisions, and their inclusion ensures that the resolution is favorable for Maryland. “Now that the project is authorized, Congress must turn to the task of appropriating the funding necessary to complete the project.
