Hudson."Congratulations to this year's winners from Jack Britt High School and North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics for their innovative app design, and thank you to all of our region's students who participated in this year's competition." Below is the winning selection for North Carolina's 9th District: App: Guide Dog, an app designed with the primary goal of helping blind or visually impaired people navigate their surroundings. Team: Gabrielle Humphrey from Jack Britt High School and Sophie Zhu from North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Both students are from Fayetteville. The Congressional App Challenge was launched by the U.S. House of Representatives to encourage student innovation and engagement in computer science and STEM. This national effort seeks to inspire students from every corner of the country to explore coding and computer science through hands-on practice by creating an app. The winner was chosen by Rep. Hudson's selection committee, a panel of technology professionals that evaluated submissions earlier this fall.
