"This legislation would suspend the debt ceiling until Dec. 16 giving a blank check to the Administration and Democratic-controlled Congress to continue their pattern of unrestrained spending. Earlier this year, the Congress passed what it described as COVID-era relief, but which actually spent far more on non-pandemic priorities. Even tonight, House Democrats are marshalling a partisan bloc of votes to pass what it calls an “infrastructure” bill that is far less than one-third actual infrastructure investment. Immediately after that will come the largest tax and spend bill in our nation’s history: As much as $5.5 trillion. "None should call this responsible, and it is not time to begin to make it a habit to provide open-ended debt increases. While emergency measures have been taken in this fashion – including during COVID – the government has an obligation to know what it is spending, to know what is owes and exercise care and caution with the money that taxpayers send us." Darrell Issa is the Representative of California’s 50th Congressional District. The District encompasses the central and northeastern parts of San Diego County and a portion of Riverside County, including the communities of Fallbrook, San Marcos, Valley Center, Ramona, Escondido, Santee, Lakeside, El Cajon, Temecula, and the mountain and desert areas of the San Diego-Imperial County line.
