Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) has long been a resource for students in the community looking to learn technical skills, but too many have lacked the ability to take advantage. Over the past year I have promoted linking MVTA's lines to the technical college, and I'm proud to say that the 420 extension will connect our communities to DCTC, allowing more students to pursue a skilled education. Background: Since coming to Congress, Representative Lewis has advocated at the local and federal levels for expanded MVTA operations. They are a critical provider of transit through the suburbs of the Twin Cities, covering both Dakota and Scott Counties. Congressman Lewis has formally written to the US Department of Transportation on behalf of MVTA on several occasions and urged completion of the DCTC connection since May 2017. A 2016 DCTC Student Survey indicated 30 percent of DCTC students were interested in using transit service. In addition to the connection from Rosemount Transit Station, Route 420 serves Apple Valley Transit Station, which has connections with the Red Line (Apple Valley Mall of America), Route 477 (Lakeville Minneapolis) and Route 442 (Burnsville Center-Apple Valley). ###	1	2026-03-30T12:14:52Z	2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
