Judge Amy Coney Barrett is an exemplary pick to serve on our nation's highest court. President Trump nominated an experienced jurist, accomplished professional, and most importantly a strict constitutionalist who will not legislate from the bench. Judge Barrett's judicial record speaks for itself. She will play a key role in cases involving the sanctity of life, religious freedom, health care, and the Second Amendment. I have no doubt she will work to protect our God-given liberties enshrined in the Constitution, just like our founders intended. The American people spoke in 2016, and they elected President Trump for a 4-year term not a 3.5-year term. He has every right and responsibility to nominate someone to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, and I'm proud he did so in accordance with the Constitution. The American people also spoke in 2018, expanding the Republican majority in the Senate. The will of the people couldn't be clearer: fill the seat. Bravo to President Trump for the outstanding nomination of a strong, thoughtful, and brilliant jurist, and one who will impact the Supreme Court for decades to come. The Senate should move without delay on her confirmation. As we saw with the Kavanaugh hearings, the left will stop at nothing to destroy a good person's name during this process.
