I applaud Pfizer and BioNTech, as well as President Trump and his Administration, on their hard work and dedication that has yielded this historic accomplishment for our country. The approval of the Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is a tremendous step toward beating this novel virus, and I know President Trump, the leaders of Operation Warp Speed, and our state leaders are well prepared for the distribution process. While I believe the COVID-19 vaccine is a critically beneficial tool, especially for those most at risk for contracting the virus, I also believe it is of the utmost importance to remember that in the United States, we value and respect the rights of the individual.
