This project was introduced by Congressman Joyce through Community Project Funding – a program that allows Members of Congress to directly advocate for projects important to their constituents. “The dedication demonstrated by UPMC, as well as the Somerset Chamber of Commerce and Career Link, to serve members of our community is exceptional,” said Dr. Joyce. “I was proud to advocate for this project in Congress, and I am pleased to see these resources go towards supporting recovery efforts in our community.” “Recovery to Work '' is a program that prepares individuals with at least six months of recovery to learn valuable skills or trades needed to gain employment and begin working in a family-sustaining job here in Pennsylvania’s 13th District. Participants practice their interviewing and communication skills, as well as learn how to handle difficult or new workplace situations. The program also includes a strong focus on family involvement through support groups. This funding will be used to expand the program into Johnstown and Cambria County. Community Funding Projects are congressionally directed spending for local or state priorities.
