John Rose submitted an amendment to the Continuing Appropriations and Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act. The amendment would pay for the $12.3 billion in assistance to Ukraine by transferring $12.3 billion originally destined for the Internal Revenue Service from the Inflation Reduction Act and rescind the remaining $67.3 billion provided to the IRS in that same act which could be used for a number of things, among them to hire 87,000 new IRS agents to target the middle class. Rep. Rose’s amendment would prevent the IRS from hiring the thousands of new agents as intended in the Inflation Reduction Act and pay for the Ukraine assistance with those funds.
