In 2016, President Obama signed 4 of my bills into law, including legislation to fight the opioid epidemic and to strengthen maternal health programs. In total, the 114th Congress passed 7 of my bills and proposals to improve educational opportunity for vulnerable children, increase the quality of care for our youngest learners, develop care for infants affected by the opioid crisis, and to support the health and success of women and their families. We have met, worked with, and helped thousands in our community through our mobile office hours, Coffee with Katherine events, open forums, policy panels, and visits throughout the Commonwealth's 5th district. By making sure Congress hears your stories, we've been able to lead the national conversation on issues like gun violence, the opioid crisis, online abuse, protecting vulnerable families, defending science, and building an economy that works for everyone.
