Katko Announces Key Wins for Central New York in NDAA Conference Report 2019-12-11 2019 2019-12 Republican House NY John Katko K000386 katko.house.gov     legacy NDAA Will Support Fort Drum, 174th Attack Wing, Help Grow Central New York Manufacturing Washington, D.C. U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced several key wins for Central New York in the Conference Report to National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020, which he helped negotiate. The NDAA authorizes the budget and expenditures for the U.S. Department of Defense, and, critical to Central New York, authorizes funding for Fort Drum, the 174th Attack Wing, Rome Labs, and projects manufactured by several local companies. The House-Senate Conference Committee is tasked with resolving differences between the House and Senate-passed versions of the NDAA. Rep. Katko was named a conferee as the House and Senate worked to build consensus on a bipartisan, bicameral bill. I was honored to work as a negotiator to produce a bipartisan, bicameral NDAA conference report. This measure strengthens our national security and will ensure our military is equipped to keep our country safe, said Rep. John Katko. Significantly for Central New York, this measure delivers funding for the 174th Attack Wing at Hancock Field, Fort Drum, and our local manufacturers that provide good-paying jobs in our community. I was proud to advocate on behalf of these local priorities, and to deliver for Central New York. Specifically for Central New York, Rep. Katko advocated for the following, which were included in the final NDAA conference report: Funding for 12 MQ-9 Reaper UAVs, used by the 174th Attack Wing stationed at Hancock Field Air National Guard; Full funding for a requested UAV hangar at Fort Drum, with a total allocation of $44,000,000 to Fort Drum; Funding for the F-35 jet fighter program, with radars supplied by Lockheed Martin in Central New York; The establishment of a Quantum Information Science Innovation Center, which is promising for Rome Lab, the Air Force's premier research organization for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) and Cyber technologies. The directorate explores, prototypes, and demonstrates high-impact, affordable and game-changing technologies; Funding for a number of radar projects. Several Central New York manufacturers produce components for these projects. Rep. Katko continued "This measure gives our troops the largest increase in decades, provides an end to the Widow's Tax that affects thousands of military families each year, and implements a paid parental leave program for federal workers. I am proud to give this bill my full support. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
