https://katko.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/rep-katko-announces-nearly-2-million-federal-funds-strengthen-early Rep. Katko Announces Nearly $2 Million in Federal Funds to Strengthen Early Education in Wayne County 2020-12-04 2020 2020-12 Republican Senate NY John Katko K000386 katko.house.gov     legacy SYRACUSE, NY U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced $1,937,185 in federal funds will be distributed to Wayne County Action Program, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to providing education, nutrition, and health services to local individuals, children, and families in-need. These funds are available through the Head Start and Early Head Start programs, and administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). These programs promote the development and school readiness of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children from low-income families. In Congress, Rep. Katko has led bipartisan efforts to deliver additional funding for Head Start programs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led a bipartisan request calling for emergency funding for Head Start to allow local programs to continue supporting our youth while adopting important public health measures. When I first came to Congress, I knew I had to take action to ensure young learners had access to quality education, regardless of their family's income. That's why, I've been a staunch supporter of the Head Start program, and am pleased to announce Wayne County Action Program, Inc., has received nearly $2 million in funds from this program, said Rep. Katko. Funds from Head Start are used to promote early education development for young children from families with modest incomes, ensuring these children are prepared for elementary school. I'm confident this award will have a significant impact on the lives of countless children in Wayne County. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
