Kean, Jr. K000398 kean.house.gov kean https://kean.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper (August 9, 2024) WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) introduced the IVF for Families Act, a bill to provide an income tax credit for the costs of certain fertility treatment. A recent study revealed that a single IVF cycle—defined as ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval and embryo transfer—can range from $15,000 to $30,000, depending on the center and the patient’s individual medication needs. Medications can account for up to 35% of those charges. “Everyone knows a neighbor, colleague, or friend who has struggled when trying to grow their family and benefited from IVF,” said Congressman Kean. “I have heard firsthand from constituents of the many emotional and financial struggles that they face throughout this process. Making this remarkable technology more accessible can and will change countless lives for the better. I will continue to support a woman’s right to choose and am proud to introduce this bill to provide greater support to those who need help growing their family.” Congressman Kean is a cosponsor of H.Res.1037, a resolution to support protection of IVF treatments led by Congresswoman Chavez-Deremer and a cosponsor of H.R.9141, a bill to help families more effectively plan and manage medical expenses, including IVF, led by Congresswoman Cammack.
