Mike Kelly (R-PA) voted in favor of legislation that would fund the government and end the government shutdown after more than six weeks. This vote comes after Kelly and House Republicans first voted to fund the government and avoid a shutdown on September 19, and after Senate Democrats blocked the House GOP-passed clean continuing resolution 14 times since then. The legislation, which also passed the Senate on Monday, now advances to President Trump's desk for his signature. "This week, a bipartisan group of lawmakers came together and put country over politics. Reopening the government and doing what is right for the American people is not a red issue or a blue issue -- it's a red, white, and blue issue," said Rep. Kelly. "House Republicans passed legislation to fund the government in September, more than six weeks ago. This shutdown could have been avoided from the start. Congress has a responsibility to keep the government funded and open, and the legislation I voted for both in September and this week do just that." The legislation: Funds SNAP through September 2026. Funds the Department of Agriculture and the FDA, the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects, and the operations of Congress through September 2026.
