These shipments come after Rep. Ron Kind sent a letter to FERC Chairman Chatterjee urging him to help ensure there is a continuous supply of propane to Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest. The region faces a potential shortage of propane due to a late corn harvest season and spike in cold temperatures. I'm grateful that FERC Chairman Chatterjee listened and acted quickly to get propane to Wisconsin and avoid a major crisis, said Rep. Ron Kind. Hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites rely on propane gas to heat their homes and businesses and operate their farms. These emergency shipments will ensure that they will be able to continue to do that. However, we need to keep working to find a long-term solution so shortages and emergency declarations like this don't keep happening. Nearly 250,000 residents and countless businesses throughout Wisconsin rely on propane fuel. Farmers also rely on propane to heat poultry and livestock barns, as well as dry wet corn crops and operate grain elevators.
