Kind has long advocated for Patient Centered Health Care La Crosse, WI Last Friday the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services finalized their new rule for the physician fee schedule update. The proposed rule includes reimbursement for advance care planning, which Rep. Kind has been working on for several years. Below is Rep. Kind's statement on the inclusion of reimbursements for advanced care planning: I am pleased and encouraged to see CMS take the step of allowing doctors to be reimbursed for having advanced care planning conversations with their patients. Western and central Wisconsin health centers, including Gunderson Health and the Mayo Clinic, have been pioneering programs that empower patients to have vital conversations about end of life care with their physicians. We need to be creating a health care system that is patient centered and rewards the value of care over the quantity of procedures, Rep Kind stated. Reimbursing for these conversations is a step in the right direction. Rep. Kind and Rep.
