In the letter, the lawmakers expressed their support for the state of Illinois' request for a federal disaster declaration for fifteen counties, including Grundy, LaSalle, and Will Counties in the Sixteenth District, which would enable residents to apply for federal reimbursements for clean-up and recovery costs. Last week's tornadoes hit our state hard, leaving many families wondering how they will clean-up from the destruction and move forward with their lives, said Kinzinger. This disaster declaration would go a long way to helping those families recover and rebuild, and I am hopeful that President Obama will move quickly to bring these families relief. If the request is approved, residents in select counties would be eligible for grants and low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration to help with the costs of clearing debris and rebuilding. Affected businesses also would be able to apply for low-interest loans from the federal government.
