The announcement comes two days after Rep. Kinzinger joined with the entire Illinois delegation in a letter to President Obama supporting the state of Illinois' request for disaster assistance. For families still dealing with the effects of last week's storms, this badly needed assistance will go a long way, said Kinzinger. The response from volunteers and first-responders over the last 10 days has been incredible, and as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, I'm glad to see that additional help is on the way to support these communities as they look to rebuild. Types of assistance available to residents include federal grants and low-interest loans to aid in disaster-related needs such as debris clearing, repair and construction, and replacement for property not covered by insurance. In addition, businesses and non-for-profits can apply for low-interest loans to cover damage of equipment and real-estate and some economic losses as a result of the storms. Residents and businesses should apply for assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov. Individuals can also call Rep.
