The Committee will serve as a forum for Rep. Kinzinger to hear from members of the agriculture community on the policy issues that affect them most directly. After much planning, it's very exciting to have this committee up and running, and it couldn't be happening at a better time, said Kinzinger. With Washington debating a whole host of issues affecting Illinois farmers, from the Farm Bill to renewable energy, this committee will be a great way to ensure the voices of Illinois' farmers are heard.Rep. Kinzinger meets with AG representatives from across the 16th DistrictHeld in Ottawa's City Hall building, the meeting covered topics such as the reauthorization of the Farm Bill, pending legislation to streamline waterway projects, renewable energy mandates, crop insurance provisions, and immigration reform. The committee, which consists of farmers and producers from all 14 counties of the Sixteenth District, plans to meet as a whole once annually, with tele-conference and local meetings held throughout the year. In Illinois, farming employs nearly 1 million people and represents 12 % of the state's economy, making it one of the largest industries in the state. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
