The legislation includes the Thermal Insulation Efficiency Improvement Act, which was sponsored by Congressman Kinzinger. Americans are paying too much for energy, said Kinzinger. By maximizing our resources here at home, we can lower energy prices and create jobs:a win-win. My bill, the Thermal Insulation Efficiency Improvement Act, is a smart step towards reducing government spending on energy and I hope the Senate will pass this commonsense energy package that will save everyone money." In 2013, American families spent on average 11.6% of their total annual expenditures on energy, as compared to 8.3% in 2000. In light of rising energy costs and the stagnant US economy, the American Energy Solutions for Lower Costs & More American Jobs Act not only creates jobs but gives Americans better access to energy resources in North America. The package builds a modern energy infrastructure, promotes the safe and responsible production of America's energy resources, ensures all Americans have access to affordable and reliable electricity, and promotes efficient new technologies. It includes bills to authorize construction on the Keystone XL pipeline, protect new coal-fired power plants, increase transparency for EPA regulations, and increase US liquefied natural gas exports. The package passed the House today in a 226 to 191 vote.
