The award was provided through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. Law enforcement do incredible work to protect and serve residents in Quincy and Adams County, said Rep. LaHood. This important funding from the Department of Justice will help support critical law enforcement training programs and provide resources Quincy law enforcement officials need. I am proud to support the Byrne JAG Program and applaud the Trump Administration in their efforts to support law enforcement in west-central Illinois. In Quincy, we have excellent law enforcement officials that work tirelessly to keep our community safe, added Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore. Investing in our local law enforcement will provide important resources to our community to keep residents safe and police prepared. I want to thank Congressman LaHood for his efforts to support law enforcement in our community and look forward to our continued work together. Background: The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions. Grant funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice, including for any one or more of the following program areas: 1) law enforcement programs; 2) prosecution and court programs; 3) prevention and education programs; 4) corrections and community corrections programs; 5) drug treatment and enforcement programs; 6) planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs; and 7) crime victim and witness programs (other than compensation) and 8) mental health programs and related law enforcement and corrections programs. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
