Under the Governor's order, the state will be divided into five regions: Greater Sacramento, San Joaquin Valley, Northern California, Bay Area, and Southern California. If a region has 85% of their ICU beds filled, the region must close for three weeks and until ICU capacity begins to trend down. LaMalfa said: The Governor has cited a lack of available ICU beds, increasing daily deaths, and increased positive cases for his most recent lockdown stunt. These claims are based on his opinion not reality. Here are the facts: California has 7,881 ICU beds, only 2,121 of which are being used by coronavirus patients. The truth is, the majority of ICU and hospital beds are being used by people getting elective surgeries. Yes, the number of positive COVID cases is rising, but the mortality rate continues to fall. These facts do not justify another lockdown of California. If lockdowns worked, this virus would have been stopped or controlled earlier this year. Governor Newsom has shown he is unwilling to follow his own rules. I don't know why any reasonable Californian would follow these unconstitutional edicts. Instead of letting the Governor rule us by fear and whim, I hope citizens will judge the risks involved based on all data and decide for themselves the best course of action. My hope is that government can present facts and let the people decide the best way to act without force, coercion, or mandates.
