The Camp Fire started on Thursday morning and has already destroyed an estimated 2,000 structures, with 15,000 more threatened in Paradise, CA and surrounding areas. There have been multiple injuries with five confirmed fatalities. The fire was most recently reported as 100,000 acres and only 5% contained. LaMalfa said: The Camp Fire, which broke out yesterday morning, has devastated the town of Paradise and surrounding areas in a matter of hours. Five lives have already been lost to this fire. It's far from over, but firefighters from across the state are working tirelessly to contain the rapidly spreading fire. I've been in close contact with the White House in order to keep the President up to speed, and I thank the Administration as well as Acting Governor Newsom for the quick response to provide emergency funding from FEMA. Please pray for our first responders, the people of Paradise and Magalia, as well as others already impacted by this deadly fire. My office will do all that we can to assist emergency personnel and provide information to the public as we receive it. Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
