To be very clear, whistleblowers with the courage to expose wrongdoing absolutely must be protected--otherwise we may never know how wide an deep the problems are at the VA. That's why Congress recently passed additional mandatory punishments against supervisors who retaliate against whistleblowers. That's also why I have been working with the VA Inspector General to look into this specific case. The shameful treatment of Brian Smothers should send a chill down the spine of every veteran or employee who has had a problem with VA leadership. Fortunately, help is on the way. This January, when President-elect Trump and his leadership team take office, we have an opportunity to work together on real reform that will finally place the needs of veterans ahead of the desires of the entrenched bureaucrats who have failed our heroes." - Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) Read the full article"Veterans Affairs whistleblower resigns, citing retaliation" from the Associated Press. f t # e 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
