He released the following statement explaining his vote: "The Continuing Resolution funds our most important national priorities. I am pleased that the CR provides funding for critical national security needs, like border security and immigration enforcement, as well as essential defense provisions to the Department of Defense and the Department of State to fix the military readiness crisis and combat ISIS abroad. The CR also increases funding to respond to natural disasters. Additionally, I supported the CR to prevent transfers of prisoners from Guantanamo Bay and the resettlement of additional Syrian refugees in the United States. The Continuing Resolution will also set the stage for a smooth start to the Trump Administration by allowing more time for the President-elect to receive confirmation for his civilian and retired military appointments in the Senate. Despite these good provisions, the Continuing Resolution process is not perfect.
