It is time to abolish ICE!” The Republican Continuing Resolution would extend federal funding for agencies, including Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS), until after the midterm elections, with no guardrails on the administration’s continued abuses of power. It fails to address funding shortfalls at public housing agencies, putting housing assistance at risk for tens of thousands of families—while allowing billions in DHS funding to be transferred to the Border Patrol at Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s discretion. This month, after two residents were shot killed by ICE agents, Secretary Mullin refused to take any action to address the agency’s abuses of power. Rep. Larson, who voted against the creation of ICE, called for the Secretary’s resignation and an independent investigation into ICE activities.
