Representative Lawler's amendment requiring the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education to prioritize the investigation of antisemitic incidents was passed by a voice vote in the en bloc amendments. His second LHHS amendment, rescinding federal funding for college campuses that give a platform to antisemitism hate, was adopted with broad, bipartisan support. Earlier this year, Representative Lawler introduced H.R. 3773, the Stop Anti-Semitism on College Campuses Act, to rescind federal funding for colleges that authorize, facilitate, provide funding for, or otherwise support any event promoting antisemitism on campus. "I introduced the Stop Anti-Semitism on College Campuses Act earlier this year after Fatima Mohammed’s hateful anti-Israel diatribe of a commencement speech at CUNY School of Law," said Congressman Lawler (NY-17). "The threats and violence against Jewish students on college campuses in the aftermath of Hamas’ October 7th terrorist attack on Israel have made this policy even more pressing."
