Rep. Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) on Tuesday released the following statement regarding the passing of Detroit activist Ron Scott, who died on November 29th, 2015. Ron Scott was a fiery orator who shed light on the often ignored issues of racial inequality and, specifically, police brutality. I can personally recall times when I spoke to him when he was very angry. However, that anger came from his passion and he used that anger to fuel his fight to make his community, and the world, a better place. No one can deny the impact he had on Detroit, on Michigan, and on the country. It didnt surprise me, or anyone else who knew Ron, to read in the Free Press that he continued with his work and his fight up to the very end of his life at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
