Lawrence. These bills will provide large increases to countless accounts that are crucial to my constituents, including Community Development Block Grants, BUILD infrastructure grants, and Violence Against Women grants. For the first time in decades, this compromise includes $25 million for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health to study gun violence, funding that is sorely needed to address this growing public health crisis. Across the board increases for domestic spending will help steer government funding in the right direction to reflect the priorities of the American people, Rep. Lawrence continued. Background Monday, House and Senate Appropriations Leaders filed two legislative packages, H.R. 1865 and H.R. 1158, that together address all 12 Fiscal-Year 2020 funding measures. Today, the House of Representatives passed both pieces of legislation with a bipartisan vote. The nearly $1.4 trillion bill ensures government agencies across the country have the funding necessary to implement programs that are important to the 14th Congressional District of Michigan.
