Al Lawson (FL-05) released the following statement today after a federal judge in Texas struck down the Affordable Care Act: The district court ruling in Texas is the latest shameful attempt to kill off the Affordable Care Act and eliminate coverage for those with pre-existing conditions. As someone who grew up without easy access to health care, I understand what a difference it can make and believe it should be available to as many Americans as possible. Since the ACA was implemented, the uninsured rate in my district has dropped to just under 4 percent. It is wrong to take away health care coverage from roughly 130 million Americans, including 7.8 million Floridians with pre-existing conditions.
