Williams (202) 225-2661 Washington, DC Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statement today regarding the Administration's decision to withdraw its remaining combat troops from Iraqi cities and turned over security to Iraqi police and soldiers. Having opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning, I am pleased that the United States is finally taking the necessary steps toward responsibly withdrawing our troops from Iraq. While I believe the pace of the withdrawal should be quicker, this decision is very much in line with the wishes of the Iraqi people to assume responsibility for the security of their own country.
