Williams (202) 225-2661 Washington, DC Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee honored Evan Yee, this year's winner of the 9th Congressional District Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery during a reception on Capitol Hill. Evan's mixed media piece, The Consequence of a Called Bluff won top honors at the awards ceremony that was held at the Chiodo Art Development Studio in Oakland, California. Evan graduated from Piedmont High School this year and will be attending Pratt Institute in New York City this fall. "I wish to congratulate Evan Yee on being named this year's Grand Prize winner of the Congressional Arts Competition from my district," said Congresswoman Barbara Lee. "I am so very proud of all of our students and their tremendous creativity and talent." The Congressional Arts Competition is open to all area high school students grades 9 through 12. The annual Arts Competition provides an excellent forum for demonstrating the important role that the arts play in American society, and gives students an opportunity to display their artistic skills. Students must submit their own artwork through their high school.
