These provisions are critical in guaranteeing that hurricane survivors are educated about their housing options and have a fair and equal opportunity for affordable housing opportunities when returning to the Gulf, said Lee. Lee's amendment to H.R. 4100, the Louisiana Recovery Corporation Act, would increase funding and resources available to the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of Fair Housing in order to enforce non-discrimination and fair housing practices, particularly in the Gulf region. The amendment authorizes funding for hiring and training Katrina survivors to work with HUD's regional offices to enforce fair housing laws and for providing counseling and assistance for affected families living in temporary housing to obtain a permanent residence. Lee also worked to ensure that elements of the Congressional Black Caucus Katrina relief bill were included, specifically $2.5 billion in funding for emergency housing vouchers for people by Hurricane Katrina. ###	1	2026-03-30T12:14:52Z	2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
