No verdict can ever replace the loss of a son, a father and a friend. Our condolences continue to go out to the family of Oscar Grant during this trying time. Understandably there is grave concern in the community. However, during this time our city must come together peacefully so that we can begin to heal. I stand with Mayor Ronald Dellums, the City Council and community leaders in supporting the right for people to assemble and express themselves under the First Amendment.
