Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) is pleased to announce that the Department of Energy (DOE) is providing $16 million in conditional loan guarantees to the Berkeley-based Nordic Windpower USA. The funding will help to underwrite the expansion of Nordic Windpower's assembly plant in Pocatello, Idaho and the production of Nordic Windpower's one megawatt wind turbine. I was pleased and excited to learn that Nordic Windpower is receiving funding for the expansion of its assembly plant, Congresswoman Lee said. At a time when we face global warming and other environmental issues that threaten the planet, we must continue to commit ourselves to funding the research and development of alternative and renewable forms energy.
