Barbara Lee (D-CA) announced today that the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHLBSF) is awarding $2.63 million for seven projects in the 9th Congressional District through its 2003 Affordable Housing Program (AHP). Overall, FHLBSF is giving $43 million in grants for affordable housing units in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, and Nevada.In Berkeley, Picante House of the Ursula Sherman Village received $120,000. Six projects in Oakland received awards: Seven Directions ($240,000), Oak Street Terrace ($155,000), Mandela Gateway Townhouses ($700,000), Foothill Family Apartments ($575,000), East Oakland Community Project Shelter ($600,000) and ACORN Phase-III Palm Court ($240,000). With the crisis in affordable housing in the Bay Area and all over this country, I am pleased to see these vital funds going toward projects in the 9th Congressional District and throughout our state and country, said Lee.
