Yesterday's event took place at The African American Museum and Library of Oakland.By winning first place, Ackerman-Greenberg will have his photograph, Hug, hung in the U.S. Capitol where it will join other winners from other congressional districts. A ceremony for all winners will be held in Washington, DC in July. Berkeley High School students took home the competition's second and third place prizes. Senior Roberto Huarcaya won second place for Once Was, and Senior Peter Logan won third place for Self Portrait. I was impressed with the efforts of all of the students who participated in Artistic Discovery, said Lee. The creativity and energy of these students and their art is an inspiration to us all. I congratulate Dan and all of the students who took part in the competition. The Artistic Discovery submissions will be on display at The African American Museum and Library of Oakland through May.
